Unibody Construction (All)

What’s the Benefit?

Unibody construction helps all Honda vehicles feature lighter weight for enhanced fuel efficiency, more structural stiffness to enable greater cornering precision, and excellent results in safety-performance measures.

The Feature:

Rather than using separate body and frame components bolted together, every Honda features a single structure that can provide both greater rigidity and lighter weight.

  • The unibody design makes for excellent structural rigidity between the suspension-mounting points so that roadholding precision and ride comfort are enhanced.
  • The cohesive structure’s lighter weight results in enhanced dynamic performance as well as better fuel efficiency.
  • Crashworthiness testing by both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has yielded consistently higher ratings for unibody vehicles than for those with a body-on-frame design.
