Plug-In Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powertrain (CR-V e:FCEV)

What’s the Benefit?

This powertrain assembles an array of advanced technologies to create responsive performance, while its only tailpipe emission is pure water.

The Feature:

The powertrain has a proton exchange membrane fuel cell as well as a plug-in rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery pack to power a torque-rich electric drive motor.

  • The drive motor produces maximum torque starting at 0 rpm, providing quick starts and energetic response in city driving.
  • The fuel cell combines compressed hydrogen with oxygen from the air to create a robust electrical current for the drive motor.
  • The battery pack can be recharged by plugging it in as well as by regenerative braking during driving.
