Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC®) (Select Vehicles)

Definition

This feature adds Variable Timing Control™ (VTC™) of the intake camshaft to Honda’s renowned VTEC. VTEC still operates the same—using a low-profile cam lobe at low rpm and activating a high-profile cam lobe at high rpm—but its performance is augmented by VTC, which allows infinitely variable control over camshaft phasing.
