Regenerative Braking (Electrified Vehicles)

Definition

This system is designed to convert the kinetic energy of an electrified vehicle into current to recharge the battery when decelerating. When the driver lifts off the accelerator, the vehicle’s drive motor is electronically converted into a generator that supplies current to recharge the battery. It also provides a braking effect on the vehicle. The level of braking force provided can be increased using the deceleration selectors or regen paddle if equipped.
