Engine/Chassis Features

Dual-Axis Front Suspension

What’s the Benefit?

This design enhances steering geometry for high-performance driving while simultaneously minimizing torque steer, for more direct, enjoyable cornering and acceleration.

The Feature:

The dual-axis MacPherson strut front suspension is unique to the Civic Type R.

  • Compared to the design for other Civic models, this suspension uses additional, highly rigid components to separate the steering axis from the damper axis.
  • This helps insulate the steering system from the effects of delivering 315 peak horsepower through the front wheels, known as torque steer.
  • In addition, the front track is increased by 3.5 inches for greater cornering stability.
