Drive Modes

What’s the Benefit?

Having access to multiple drive modes helps enable Passport drivers to maintain traction, stability and driving confidence in a wide variety of conditions—with the ease of just pushing a toggle switch on the center console.

The Feature:

The characteristics of several systems can be altered when different modes are selected, including the throttle, transmission, idle stop, VCM, steering, brakes and AWD. The mode selected appears in the digital instrument cluster.

  • All Passport trims offer seven modes:
    • Normal mode provides the best balance between responsiveness, efficiency and comfort.
    • ECON mode smooths the throttle response to enhance fuel efficiency.
    • Sport mode quickens throttle response, holds lower transmission gears for stronger acceleration and increases steering feel.
    • Snow mode optimizes stability on slippery surfaces with dampened throttle response and 2nd-gear starts.
    • Tow mode holds lower gears for better responsiveness, increases steering feel and deactivates the rear parking sensors if equipped.
    • Trail mode, the throttle response and shift mapping are calibrated for low-speed trails, the AWD and brake systems are modulated for greater obstacle capability, the TrailWatch™ feature of the Multi-View Camera System (MVCS) on TrailSport Elite is automatically activated, and the Trail Torque Logic is engaged as well.
    • Sand mode enhances performance on dunes and during beach driving by optimizing the throttle response, shifting, braking and AWD system for those conditions.
