Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate (Special Edition, Touring and above)

What’s the Benefit?
The Pilot’s hands-free access feature provides a high level of convenience when approaching the vehicle with your hands full. 

The Feature:
The hands-free access function lets you open and close the tailgate without reaching for the key fob.

• Owners who want to open the tailgate while their hands are full don’t even have to press a button.
• They can simply raise their foot beneath the rear bumper while the Smart Entry remote is with them.
• The tailgate will unlock and open automatically.
• The hands-free access sensor is positioned in the middle of the vehicle—although an accessory is available to move the sensor a few inches to the right if a trailer hitch is installed.

Important Note:
The correct foot motion is to kick directly up toward the sensor, and then quickly back down again; a side-to-side waggle, for instance, won’t trigger the sensor to open the tailgate.
