What’s the Benefit?

RDM enhances the driver’s sense of security.

The Feature:

The Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)⁴ employs the windshield-mounted camera also used by LDW to identify the side of the road, including painted lane lines, Botts’ Dots and cat’s-eye markers.

• When the system detects that the vehicle is about to leave the road without a turn signal in use, it alerts the driver with a DII warning message.
• The system is designed to then use the Electric Power Steering system (EPS) to guide the vehicle back into its detected lane or to apply the brakes to keep the Insight from leaving the roadway altogether.
