Adaptive Damper System (Si)

What’s the Benefit?

This system allows the same car to have a compliant, comfortable ride quality during normal driving as well as more firm, precise cornering when the sporting mood strikes.

The Feature:

All four dampers can adapt their damping to accommodate either comfort or spirited driving.

• In the normal driving mode, damping fluid in all four dampers flows through valving at a relatively high volume, offering less resistance and more compliance over bumps.
• When the Civic Si driver pushes the SPORT button, a solenoid in each damper receives a signal to alter the valving to a more constricting position, making the damper firmer on both the compression and rebound strokes; the result is less body roll and greater cornering accuracy.
