Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) (Honda Sensing® feature)

What’s the Benefit?

LKAS helps the driver stay centered in a detected lane, providing a more confident driving experience on narrow roadways.

The Feature:

The Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)11 is designed to help keep a vehicle centered in a detected lane, applying mild steering torque if it determines the vehicle is drifting toward the side of the lane.

  • The system uses a windshield-mounted camera to look for lane markers, and the electric power steering (EPS) to help steer the vehicle.
  • If LKAS determines the vehicle is deviating from the center of a detected lane with no turn-signal activation by the driver, it will attempt to steer the vehicle back into the center of the lane.
  • This can be especially useful when traveling on narrow roadways, such as carpool lanes.
  • The system may provide an audible alert if a lane marking has been crossed.
  • The LKAS system is not intended to take over driving or steering of the vehicle.
  • Control of the vehicle remains the driver’s responsibility.
