Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold

What’s the Benefit?

The electric parking brake provides a higher level of ease and sophistication, while the automatic brake-hold feature helps ease the stress of driving in stop-and-go traffic.

The Feature:

The Odyssey features an electric parking brake with automatic brake hold.

  • Instead of the traditional hand lever or foot pedal for the parking brake, Odyssey owners can simply use the electric parking brake switch to set or release the vehicle’s parking brake.
  • When activated, automatic brake hold maintains braking pressure when the driver applies the brakes, such as in stop-and-go traffic, and releases the brakes when the driver applies the accelerator.
  • Automatic brake hold is turned off when the ignition is shut off; it must be reactivated by pushing the BRAKE HOLD button each time the vehicle is restarted.

Important Note: Contrary to the electric parking brake introduced on other Honda models, the Odyssey’s is engaged by pushing down on the switch—and released by lifting it up. This style of operation more closely mimics that of the foot-pedal design used on previous-generation Odyssey models.
