Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

What’s the Benefit?

RDM⁴ enhances the driver’s sense of security.

The Feature:

The Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)⁴ employs the windshield-mounted camera also used by Lane Departure Warning (LDW) to identify the side of the road, including painted lane lines, Botts’ Dots and cat’s-eye markers.

• When the system detects that the vehicle is about to leave the road, it alerts the driver with an MID warning message.
• RDM⁴ is designed to then use the electric power steering system (EPS) to guide the vehicle back into its detected lane or to apply the brakes to keep the vehicle from leaving the roadway altogether.
