This system gives drivers a Normal mode for relaxed street driving, a Sport mode for sharpened response and heightened enjoyment, and ECON mode to optimize their fuel efficiency.
Normal mode is the default setting, and drivers can press either Sport or ECON on the toggle switch by the shift controls, depending upon the job at hand; a display in the instrument panel indicates the mode engaged.
The three-mode drive system has an effect on several functions:
In Normal mode, all systems are calibrated to provide a pleasing balance of comfort, performance and efficiency.
In Sport mode, the electric power steering (EPS) provides a direct, linear feel; Agile Handling Assist becomes more aggressive in the corners; Drive-by-Wire throttle response is powerful and direct; Active Sound Control gives the Accord a sportier exhaust note; and on the Touring trim, the dampers become firmer for flat cornering.
Press the ECON button, and both the climate control system and the Drive-By-Wire throttle system take a more relaxed route to enhance fuel efficiency.
