Driver’s and Front Passenger’s Seat-Belt Reminder System

What’s the Benefit?

Seat belts can’t help if they’re not used; this system aims to increase seat-belt usage by front-row occupants.

The Feature:

To help increase seat-belt usage (which is the primary form of occupant restraint/retention in the Fit), a driver’s and front passenger’s seat-belt reminder has been incorporated into the instrument cluster.

• After the vehicle is started, a weight sensor detects whether the front-passenger seat is occupied.
• If the driver or front passenger has not already fastened their seat belt, an icon in the cluster illuminates and a chime sounds as a reminder.
